Mega grom, Ryland Rubens, makes the most of the California Winter...

Rusty Surfboards team rider, Ryland Rubens, is 11 years old and instead of hanging out at arcades or candy shops or whatever it is 11 year olds do- Ryland gets barreled. Ryland's most recent barrel fest came from a strike mission/dream trip to the Maldives, where he skipped out on Dance-Dance-Revolution and sour patch kids and opted for turquoise tubes instead...

Ryland was stoked to get 4th place in both highly contested NSSA Regional’s - Explorer Menehune & Open Boys divisions. He was pretty much the youngest in both finals and still has another year left in each division... Watch out world.

Super Grom Ryland Rubens stands tall...
Ryland took home the 12 and under 1st place trophy at the WSA - West Coast Championships at Churches this last weekend. He finished the WSA season in 1st with most points overall, in 5 events he took 3-1st place finishes, a 3rd, and 4th. He now automatically qualifies for the limited slots for the Surfing America USA Championships at Lowers in June... Big congratulations to Ryland from the crew at Rusty Surfboards.

Pay close attention to mini grom Ryland Rubens as he continues to boggle minds by surfing and competing well beyond his years. Not too long ago Ryland made the finals of both an NSSA event and a WSA event on the same day and finals took place at the same time; after receiving his highest scores to date in his NSSA semi it was a tough call, but he decided to surf the WSA final. The decision payed off as he came home with the 1st place trophy. Ryland has also been spotted down at Blacks Beach enjoying the recent run of swells. Competition or not, Ryland's surfing speaks for itself.
Fly weight mega grom, Ryland Rubens, just returned from his first stint in Indo and rumor has it he was stepping it up with the big boys and surfing well beyond his years. Go get 'em grom...
