Chris Tucker came ever so close to pulling off the Sweep at the 2010 ESA Easterns by winning the Open Shortboard Division and taking second in the Junior Men's Division. After a commanding performance in Open Shortboard Final (throwing down the huge the air reverse seen above), Chris came up just short of beating out two-time champion Nick Rupp in the Junior Men's Final. Regardless of the outcome, Chris was on fire the entire event and put on a truly impressive show every heat. Congratulations from all of the Rusty crew!
Also, a big congratulations is in order for both Corey Howell, who took third in the Boy's Division Final, and Keto Burns, who competed against Chris and Nick in the Junior Men's Division Final.

On Day 2 of the 2010 ESA Easterns none of the age specific competitions had begun, but this day was for the much coveted Open Shortboard title. The Rusty Team was in top form with both Chris Tucker and Corey Howell competing in the Open Shortboard finals while Keto Burns bowed out in a hard fought semi with Cam Richards. ESA is not announcing the winner until this weekend, but Chris Tucker had a ridiculous performance, sticking an insane air reverse in the final. Rusty was the presenting sponsor at this years San Clemente Open Surf Championships held at San Clemente pier. We were sure to make our mark and leave the kids surf stoked!
Rusty provided plenty of between heat action offering the kids custom hats pressed by team rider Lulu Erkeneff, sunglasses and stickers. And we can’t forget about Punchy who is always a crowd favorite and definitely kept the kids busy in between their heats. Punchy actually made it out in the lineup!
Also, at this years SC Open Rusty put on an expression session for the crowd including team riders: Nate Yeomans, Damien Fahrenfort, Jay Davies, Spencer Regan and Sammy Orozco with Matt Beacham MC’ing. The waves slowed down a bit but the boys were still able to put on a good show! After the heat the boys signed posters for all the groms as well as a few body parts.
Thanks to everyone coming out and we look forward to next years event!
Hurricane season isn't over yet. Igor kicked up some more solid swells on the Outer Banks and Rusty's Justin Schub and crew drove up from Wrightsville Beach to score a couple barrels. Have a look at the photos below...
