Jayke Sharp makes the most of a rainy day by putting his Rusty Redline to the test in some chunky beach break surf on Australia’s East Coast…

21 year old Aussie threat, Jayke Sharpe, comes out with guns blazing when it counts. With a flurry of grab rail cutbacks, massive hacks, huge foam climbs, unthinkable floaters, and a repertoire of aerial maneuvers, Jayke Sharpe is not a name you want to see on your next heat sheet. Sharpe demonstrated his explosiveness in the recent Kirra Teams Challenge, where Surf Clubs across Australia competed for home town pride, by dominating his heat and taking home points for his team.

The boys went out today to Rocky Point for a little photo session with Bosko before he left back to Oz. Waves are still small and there is not much swell on the North Shore. We went back to the East Side of the Kaneohe military base again along with Jay Davies, Jayke Sharp, Nate Yeomans, and Hunter Johnson. Pretty windy but still fun surf and better then the north shore. However, it looks like the North Shore will pick up this week so stay tuned. Josh Kerr is still out because of a couple of fractured bones in his foot, but he should surf again soon.

Congratulations to Jayke Sharp for winning his Round 2 heat with a score of 12.44 at the Azores Islands Pro 2009. He beat out fellow surfers Pat Gudauskas, Alain Riou, and Gabriel Medina. Jayke will square off against Corey Lopez, Tanner Gudauskas, and Madison Williams in Round three. The event starts tomorrow at 1 am PDT, so if you’re up late check out the stream here.
