16th Annual Maui Interscholastic Surfing Championships

This past weekend, the 16th annual Maui Interscholastic Surfing Championships presented by Rusty and Hi-Tech took place at Hookipa Beach Park, Hawaii. Winning its first title in four years, Lahainaluna took top honors with a balanced scoring attack from its boys and girls teams who both added 64 points to The Lunas' 128 point total.

Moreover, Lahainaluna had three individual champions: Koral Gill claimed the Girls Bodyboard title, Casey Egan took the Girls Longboard title and Nick Falbo was victorious in Boys Shortboard competition.

NSSA Hawaii Regional Championships Finals

Barron Mamiya and Mahina Maeda made their presence known at this years 2010 NSSA HRC at Kewalo Basin. Barron placed 3rd in the Open MiniGroms Final, 1st in the Open MiniGroms Ratings, and was awarded Freddy P.'s Golden Ticket to the NSSA Nationals. Mahina made Finals in all 3 of her divisions, placing 2nd in Open Womens, 3rd in Explorer Girls, and 5th in Explorer Womens.

Austin Vicente and Hunter Johnson made it to the Semis in their respective divisions. Austin was awarded the Rory Parker Award and will have 4 Events/2 Divisions comped next season. Hunter received a similar award and will also have 4 Events/2 Divisions comped next season.

Congrats to Barron, Mahina, Austin, and Hunter for qualifying for NSSA Nationals! Keep up the Great Work Guys!
