With perfect weather and frothing conditions the 2010 NSSA Eastern Championships wrapped up in Florida's Sebastian Inlet. Rusty's groms were on an absolute tear with Corey Howell, Keto Burns, Mikey Ciaramella, Chris Tucker, and Noah Dovin all making the finals of their respective divisions! Florida supergrom and Rusty team rider Corey Howell participated in Ron Jons' 2010 Easter Surf Fest this past weekend and absolutely dominated the competition. Corey took first in both the Boys and the Jr Pro divisions!
"I just tried to mix it up," said Howell. "Once I get two good waves, then I can take some chances. My dad (Randy) and my coaches tell me when I get the momentum, to keep it going, so going back-to-back was good for me."
By winning both divisions, Corey accomplished a rare feat that had been done three decades ago by WCT legend Kelly Slater. Congratulations to Corey for such an epic performance!

Rusty rider Corey Howell participated in the Slater Bros Surfing with the Stars event to raise money for skin cancer awareness. Corey and his buddy ended up contributing $560 for the cause and for their awesome effort they also got to pick two pros to surf alongside with in the contest. As a Florida native Corey choose Kelly Slater and CJ Hobgood and got hang out with the two world champs during the day in addition to surfing with them in the comp!
Hurricane Bill was unleashed on the Eastern Seaboard this past weekend and though it was downgraded to a Class 2 it still produced some pummeling swell.
