Ryan Turner and his brother Timmy have spent countless seasons in Indo, putting in the hard yards, hacking their way through jungle and paying local fishermen for drop offs and pick ups…the Turner family from Huntington Beach, Ca, are a tight knit bunch, mom Michelle has owned and operated The Sugar Shack, a local Main street eatery that has fed many a traveling pro, and dad Tim who runs the beach crew for the city. This upbringing has seen both Timmy and Ryan start their own family’s at a young age, and Ryan has not let the responsability’s of raising a family cut into his Indo time. With the blessings of his wife Jen, Ryan got creative and now sub leases his Huntington Beach home out for five months a year and hauls hise wife and son Colby with him to Bali.
This serves as home base for the season, and Ryan stays on top of the swell charts and goes on quick strike missions with various crews who are in town at the time. Ryan stopped by in May before he left and saw a used board from a top grom in our offices, he lit up when he saw it and asked if he could gift it to young local who he knew at Deserts that was riding three fourths of a broken 6′2″ that someone had left behind. We were happy to flow it to him, knowing it would end up in the grateful hands of a future ripper. That’s the Turner family way, always looking to help others. Enjoy.
